Lisa Murray

Passion is defined as an intense or overpowering emotion such as love or joy. In the most direct meaning of the definition Lisa has a passion to work with children and their families. She has an overpowering will and desire to make a difference in the lives of young children and help shape their future. Every piece of her life makes her who she is today and every child she has encountered has helped influence who she will be in the future.

Lisa graduated from George Mason University in 2003 with a Bachelor in Psychology. During her undergraduate study she had an active involvement with the Special Love Organization, a program for children infant through age 18 diagnosed with cancer, in addition to a volunteer for at-risk youth with behavioral problems in North Carolina, and also worked as a nanny for a young child with a hearing impairment. All of this lead her to realize her future in working with children, and in 2006 went to work for Fairfax County Public Schools as a Preschool Autism teacher. While teaching she received her Masters in Education, also from George Mason University, in 2007 and her VA State teaching license in Early Childhood Education. During the last five years she has also worked as a private behavior therapist in the Northern VA area designing and implementing ABA programming for children aged 3 to 15. Following her love for behavior therapy she is a candidate for Board Certification in Behavior Analysis and her teaching license in Severe Disabilities.
